Dear Delegates, Volunteers, Supporters and Partners,
For the past several years, The iBELIEVE Foundation and the Ohio Association of Student Leaders have partnered to provide Senior High Summer Leadership Workshop programs to students affiliated with both organizations.
For Summer 2020, each organization will be offering a unique, specially designed program that will enable participants to engage in meaningful activities, develop important skills, and build and maintain valuable connections.
OASL is pleased to share a fun and engaging virtual "Summer Workshop Reimagined" experience that will still include traditional events such as small council activities, large group sessions, Olympics, TTMAB, Songfest/Funfest talent shows, and opportunities for students to connect 1-on-1 with new and old friends. New sessions include a keynote speaker, leadership panel, and live entertainment. Students will share and cultivate leadership skills such as empathy, a growth mindset, communication, group facilitation and community service while focusing on three tiers of leadership: the individual leader, leading within a group, and serving as a leader in students’ home schools and communities.
iBELIEVE invites students to experience the H.E.A.R.T of Leadership. This program will connect the dots between service, effective leadership and personal success. Participants will develop key skills including communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and more – all in the context of exploring real community needs and designing workable solutions. Students will further gain awareness of the importance of hard work, empathy, appreciation of diversity, resilience, and thoughtfulness (H.E.A.R.T.) to lead through service to others and bring about positive change.
OASL’s Virtual Summer Workshop will be offered twice for Senior High students; students would only participate in one of those weeks (July 13-17 or July 20-24) and once for Middle Level students (July 13-17).
The iBELIEVE Foundations’ The H.E.A.R.T. of Leadership program will take place July 6-9 and July 27-31, and will require limited time for project work during the weeks in between.
Please note: the schedule was created intentionally to enable students to participate in both programs if they choose. Please see the graphic on the next page for more detail of time commitment.
OASL is dependent on programming as a primary source of revenue that enables the organization to serve student leaders and advisors. OASL welcomes both new and returning student leaders from any student organization or athletic team to participate in Virtual Summer Workshop. For more information, including programming details, registration fees, and to register, please visit: www.oasl-oh.org
The iBELIEVE Foundation offers programming at no cost, for students from the Appalachian region. This is made possible through grants and state funding, as well as corporate and private donations. Because iBELIEVE’s donations and grant funds are awarded specifically to support opportunities for students from the Appalachian region, students outside of iBELIEVE’s service area are encouraged to visit www.theibelievefoundation.org on June 1st for more information and registration.
The iBELIEVE Foundation and the Ohio Association of Student Leaders are excited for this new adventure. Special circumstances have led us to provide separate opportunities this summer, but our mission in student leadership development remains a united cause. We stand in full support of one another.
